garden update

okay, so i have a black thumb. i know this, but i still try. some varmints were eating all of our veggies that we planted, so dave built a cage to go over it. that seems to be keeping the varmints out, but the veggies are growing...ever...so...slowly. maybe we don't get enough sun? or they have some disease? who knows, but i'm trying! i want to eat at least one thing out of the garden damn it.

lets just look at the other side of our yard. and what do we have? beautiful sedum that is flowering. it's the only fall flowering plant i have, and i love it.

darts

over the summer our great, highly motivated, friend ben came over to "help" dave install the dart board that i picked up at a yard sale in the spring. let's just say that without ben, it would have never been installed :-)
i think it looks amazing in the basement. and it's fun to play, although i really suck at it.

amazing weekend

once in awhile we get a (mostly) free weekend where we can do whatever we want, and do what we want we did. to top it off the weather was perfect and it's finally feeling and smelling like fall. fall is my favorite season, until spring, then spring is my favorite season.

our weekend included dinner with friends, breakfast's, thrift stores, yard sales, motorcycle shopping, farmer's market, the weakerthan's show, heirloom tomatoes from the aforementioned farmer's market, drive through gorgeous bucks county and the star of the weekend... short rib ragu. dave makes the best short rib ragout in all of the universe. i need to remember to stop ordering meals at restaurants that i know dave makes the best (even better than supposedly great restaurants). no one can top his eggplant parm, meatballs, or short rib ragu.

we even let moz lick the bowl.

and i even took a bubble bath this weekend. a BUBBLE BATH, as in a tub full of water and bubbles. i haven't had a bath in about 8 years, i've had showers of course ;-) just not a bath.

craft night and a new pillow

i started having a craft night at my house once every couple weeks and we have been having fun so far. last week the crafting included: making drinking glasses from wine bottles, flowers from fabric, a crocheted scarf and i made a pillow.

i was given this awesome, super intricate, piece of sewn art by a friend, so i decided to finally do something with it. it reminds me of mexican embroidery, but i can't figure out exactly what it is. i used fabric from a vintage table cloth that i picked up at a thrift store and made a pillow out of it.

living room ideas for my sister

my sister moved into a new townhouse this year and has decorated most of it, but her front room is currently empty! we need to change that so i pulled a few things together for her to check out.

two bubble gum and tootsie roll chairs from spruce home, an etsy seller. with the troy sleeper sofa from crate and barrel.

and for accessories...

my favorite pillow in my brandeye etsy shop

art work, this set of four textured flora prints from our friend rachel atdragonfly photo.
lighting, this art deco lamp, from the brandeye etsy shop. along with this lamp shade

a banded flame mahogany coffee table. and these silk/cotton blend curtains from overstock.com

and if this pink amy butler rug is too much...
then this sisal rug with a brown border would look nice

let me know what you think!

amber and josh's quilt

a couple of weekends ago dave and i were in nyc and went to the awesome fabric store, purl soho (who has an excellent blog the purl bee). dave spotted the blue fabric that looks pennsylvania dutch and said that i have to make amber and josh a quilt from it. it was too perfect and i knew they would love it. so i bought it and, along with some other fabrics i had, made a quilt from it.
the green fabric i bought at a flea market last year and this was the perfect time to use it.

the back was made mostly from a linen table cloth from a thrift store.

i adore this quilt, but not as much as i adore this couple.
congratulations amber and josh!
