golden nugget and the moland house

a few weeks ago a friend and i went to the golden nugget in lambertville, nj. it's a really great flea market where you can find many amazing things.

i found about 5 awesome paintings and drawings just in this box.

on the way home we stopped at a historic house that i've driven by many times, but I never could convince dave to stop and see it. jenni was up for it so we stopped and are so glad we did. the moland house was one time George Washington's headquarters. it was built in the 1700s as a residence and has been restored.

the kitchen:

the kitchen sink.

a porch.
how gorgeous is this shade of blue?

and this shade of yellow. do you love this this asymmetrical fire place as much as i do? i want one.

and a hand quilted quilt.

shupp's grove

i always find great things at shupp's grove flea market. warning, a ridiculous song plans when you click on that link, but it's worth it ;-)

here's what i purchased: 8 vintage frosted glasses (which i was going to sell, but decided to keep), a vintage necklace, a vintage fish belt buckle thing, a plant in a copper sugar canister, vintage trims, and sweet vintage pearl, shell and bakelite buttons.

i think i spent around $60 for ALL that stuff. the most expensive things were the buttons, which i could have easily spent hundreds on. a seller is there that literally has thousands of the most gorgeous vintage buttons you'll ever see.

locket

my love of flea markets is no secret. you just never know what you'll find, but you know it will be awesome. i found this locket at a flea market years and years ago and have been wearing it a lot lately.

this weekend i finally got around to putting a picture in it. dave and i circa 2001.

yay for accomplishing things you've been meaning to do for years.

flea marketing

i finally made it to a flea market just before we left for vacation (a post on that soon). they had this awesome sign from ambler, which is a town by me where a few of my friends live.

and lots of pyrex.

and i even got to pet a pet goat!

have you found anything good lately?

terrain, antiques and wine

this weekend was spent doing nothing but fun stuff, which was great. saturday dave was recording so i had a whole day to spend doing exactly what i wanted to do, along with some girlfriends. we first went to terrain at styers, which was even more amazing then i imagined. imagine anthropology doing a garden center/cafe, because that is exactly what it is. it was even the dead of winter and the place was amazing.

and lunch was amazing too.

then we headed over to brandywine view antiques. one of my favorite blogs is freshvintage, and she and her sister opened a "shop" in this antique store to sell all of the freaking awesome stuff they find at yard sales and flea markets. she also happens to be hilarious. seriously, read her blog.

look at all the cute stuff they have! i bought one of the aprons and a table cloth. and i must have been temporarily blind, or just overwhelmed, because i was specifically look for planters and missed the ones right there on the shelves.

and then we went to chaddsford winery, which was fun. but let's just say PA is not known for great wine.

flea market fun

sunday was spent at shupp's grove in adamstown, pa with my good friends jenn and lorraine. the weather was absolutely perfect and we found lots of great stuff. everybody needs a monk in their life. especially one on a stand that holds a bottle of brandy.

and who can resist trying on a pair of 1980's glasses? these looked almost exactly like a pair my sister used to have.

lots of cool pumpkins...

and bottles...

and awesome green things...

here's what i bought...

lots of pumpkins and squash, a vintage hand towel, vintage hankies, milk glass cup, and dried corn. i also bought a sweet bracelet, but forgot to take a picture of it.

flea market finds for me: bakelite and glass

sunday my family and i went to the williams grove flea market, which i told you about before here.
i love the old roller coaster. i was too much of a wuss to ride it when i was a kid.

my favorite dealer is a husband and wife that sell the BEST vintage jewelry. look at all this Bakelite! and this is only the bracelets.

i bought this Bakelite bracelet...

and this pedestal bowl, which i am in love with. i had a milk glass one that i sold and always wanted another one, so this one is for me!

excellent weekend

even though it rained all weekend, we had a great one. i went to zern's again with some friends and despite my favorite vendor not being there i got lots of great stuff for the shop and for myself. while i was away dave was putting together our new ikea sectional. we LOVE it and can now both lay down and be comfortable and can even cuddle. the room looks so bare now though, since the sofa is a natural color, so i'm working on adding some more color. once it's done i'll post some pics, should be later this week.

here is some of the stuff i bought at the flea. i also got a pyrex 4 bowl nesting set, which was in the sink, so i forgot to photograph it. and i also got lots of left over mens suit material to make something out of.

the little pictures are hanging on the turquoise wall in the living room and look awesome. i can't believe dave let me hang them there! i thought he'd hate them, and maybe he does.

and look at this awesome trim. i can't wait to use it for something.

sat night we went to see dinosaur jr. in baltimore and they were great. luckily i was to the side and not in direct contact with the sound waves. they are INSANELY loud.
