the fantastic mr. groundhog

we harvested some arugula and radishes from the garden today. it's doing much better than our attempt in the fall, but not as good as it could be. we're learning :-) like that you should eat somethings before they sprout flowers.

as we were eating this delicious pizza with a chickpea "sauce" and arugula, we watched the fantastic mr. fox, which was excellent by the way. after the movie i walked outside and realized we forgot to put the cover back over the garden. then i saw the groundhog tearing ass across the yard, to go under "his" shed, right beside his all-you-can-eat buffet, aka our compost. what a little, fat jerk. but i can't help but laugh at the irony.

camping at tobyhanna

we found ourselves with a free weekend, which just so happened to have perfect weather. we ended up at tobyhanna state park, which had the absolute best camping spots, right on a lake. moz loved it, and so did we.
since moz has such bad knees, we can't really hike when we take him. but this spot was perfect since it was right on a lake. there were fun things to see and do right there.

we also had some great food. hot dogs...

beef stew...

and sausage and pancakes...

it was fun.

we also checked out a lake house that is for sale. it is super awesome, but needs A LOT of work. we're thinking about it....

brass monkey

well there are no monkeys involved in this post, unless you count me since that is what my husband lovingly calls me. but i do like the beastie boys. and i just listed some brass vintage items in the brandeye etsy shop.
a brass vase from india.

and a brass nut cracker dish. the cracker is attached to the dish, which is pretty awesome. no more losing the nut cracker.

yard sale booty

literally. i found something that even dave loves. 50's pinup art! it's a calendar from the 50's, the macpherson's sketch book cutouts for grown-ups. i can just imagine creeps in the 50's hiding in the basement, cutting this apart and dressing and undressing the girls. haha. now this is worth about $130, according to ebay, but i'm keeping it.

the poetry is hilarious.

UPLIFTING
An uplift effect
'Neath an off-shoulder blouse
Is chic and correct
And will bring the house down

i must say that it's really pretty :-) everything is blue and mustard color. i would post a screen shot, but i can't figure out how to do it with my computer! sometimes i am very computer illiterate.

it was inspired by this quilt.

ava grace

here's a quilt that i just made for a my friend kelly's baby shower. the ava grace, hopefully it really is a girl! that happened to friend's of ours, so i always think it'll happen again.

i didn't use the walking foot at first (which is what makes the layers feed together at the same time) and it made a pattern that i liked, so i went with it, alternating the side i started at.

the quilt is made from vintage linens and amy butler fabrics, my favorite fabric designer.

can't wait to meet her :-)
